The conductor


Murat Bekmukhamedovich Serkebayev 

People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan and the USSR Composers Alliance member (born 1940) – a violinist and a composer.

He is native of Almaty city. He graduated from Almaty Musical School, Almaty State Institute of Arts (Kazakh National Conservatoire named after Kurmangazy) and finished its postgraduate course.

In 1959-1965 he worked as a violinist in the variety-symphonic orchestra of the Kazakh Radio and Television broadcasting.

In 1968-1996 he worked as a violinist and a chamber orchestra musical director.

Since 1998 – he has been an artistic director and a principal conductor in the Concert Orchestra of Almaty Akim.

He made a contribution into promotion of musical compositions of Kazakhstani composers as well as Russian and foreign classical music.

He is the author of “Ainamkoz” poem, «Akkuim-anim», “Dala kelbeti”, “Elegiya”, “Rapsodiya”, “Tugan zher turaly an” lyrical songs and arrangement for many musical pieces for orchestra.
